The Heavenlies had good intentions. They created the earth, placed mortals upon it, created the manna for the mortals to follow, and meant to watch their creations blossom. But when things went wrong, they went really wrong. At first things seemed righted as they sent two of their own kind down to keep track of things - until two of the Heavenlies managed to create an incest foal, stupid as they were. This foal would be the end of earth as it was known.
Balous was sent to earth to perish, and when he didn't, his twisted incest mind began plotting. He drew many in, and began to taint them, twist their minds. War began between those who followed Balous, and those who believed in the manna, and the earthbound Heavenlies, who were now called the Fate. Those who followed the Fate were now known as the virtues. All others were called the fallen. The Fate and the virtues destroyed the fallen, but Balous escaped with his life. When the Fate God, Haphaestus, fell for the Fate Goddess, Pandora, Balous found his opportunity to strike.
The twisted brute began his scheme, tainting the Goddess at any given opportunity. It was then that the Heavenlies caught on to his motions, and they destroyed him - but they were too late. Pandora was too corrupt, and she slowly turned into a fallen. But of course she wasn't the same as the other fallen, for she had divine powers. The Heavenlies wept, and called her the Fury.
Now, as Pan builds an army of dark warriors, Haphaestus too builds an army, but of those who still believe in the manna, and for all that is right in the world. But there is a secret. One that could make or break both alliances... And the only ones who can access it are the Fury Goddess and Fate God.
The year is currently 2500. The whole human race died out nearly three hundred years ago due to a huge nuclear war that swept across the world, killing nearly everything in its path although some animals managed to survive. Horses being one of them. All of the remaining animals began to florish as the world pieced itself back together. Without the humans trees and plants grew everywhere, no pollution or anything to kill them. The animals lived in harmony, most of the predators extinct, nothing to kill them. Horses begun to rule, and as they did their intelligence increased. They begun to take on human like traits.
There were horses of all types, horses who were so kind that they were even nice to the evil. Horses who were stuck in the middle and shared traits of both godly and evil. Then there were those who were so caught up in causing death and depression that they hardly thought of anything else. Those who were evil, frequently called the damned, wanted to rule. But of course those who were so godly didn't want them to as it would put an end to their perfect haven and drape it in darkness forever. Those who were caught in the middle really didn't care seeing as they could live either way. The damned and the godly felt as though a war was brewing. They could feeling it coming. The ones who were both damned and godly could feel it to and simply chose not to fight, but some of the neutrals rebelled and chose a side or just fought in between.
It wasn't only a war that harmed to end the new peaceful state of the world. An influenza is spreading, any animal can catch it. Any creature within a half mile radius of one who is infected has a chance of getting sick themselves. The influenza has no boundaries, it is mutating to find a way to kill anything in its path, if it doesnt kill the creature it has infected, it would be a miracle. The influenza threatens the horses to a death sentence, they have to find a cure or something that will stop it in its path. But as the influenza mutates these possibilities of stopping it seem impossible. Those few that survived this illness they have found that it has changed them forever.
On top of the war and influenza there has been sightings of a pack of three rather large looking cats. They are similar to the tiger but almost double the size and way more ferocious. These cats of no boundaries and will kill basically anything that moves. These new predators have an incredible bloodlust and even when their thirst quenched they still lurk just for the excitement of the kill. There are many mysteries surrounding these creatures because of their incredible speed, blood thirst and red eyes. They hold similarities to vampires just in a cat form. These cats never finish eating their prey, they just seem to drain it of blood. They have incredible speed and strength, they seem to have amazing hearing and scent. And they are very quiet, they seem to be the perfect predator. These creatures have earned the name of 'vampire cat'.
With these odd blood thirsty cats on the loose, the influenza and a brewing war, none of the equines are safe. Will the horses somehow work together and defeat the cats? It's unlikely seeing how the damned and the godly are feuding non-stop. Will the influenza suddenly disappear, or will a cure be found? Unlikely again. Will the war be forgotten and the equines live in harmony? Yet again unlikely.
Could this be the end of the lovely horses that have roamed the earth for so long? Or will they find incredible strength and fight for their lives?

Hello there literate roleplayers. Are you tired of bland Light vs. Dark plots, equine RPGs that all seem the same, and plots that don't affect your character?
Well we've got a surprise for you. At The Secret it's not just about good and evil. In fact, good and evil don't have a lot to do with things. No matter whose side you're on, you can be as nice or as cruel as you see fit. But if you live in the north you'd better be tough if you want to stay alive. Here's a summary of what kinds of characters you can make:
Southern equines: The Resistance. You like freedom and would rather be left to your own devices. Conquering is not really your thing, you just want to be left alone to start a herd. Weakland equines: The Captives. You keep your head down and hope you don't get beaten up too often. You dream of escaping to the south, but know you'll be killed for trying. Mostly mares live here, though there is a small number of stallions. They usually get beaten down the most so they can't rebel. Northern equines: Tartarus's Legions. You work for the mastermind, Tartarus, the one who blew the news about the object of power out into the open. You answer to his captain Atlas, and you spend your time fighting, bullying mares in the Weaklands, and training colts for the army. If you have any spare time you can gather a small herd. Haven of Hesperides: The Secret Keepers. You know not hate nor greed, and you live within the walls of the Haven. You may leave to explore, but other equines seem so different to you. You live in peace and philosophy, seeking knowledge and enlightenment. But you know what is brewing, and the battle will come to your doorstep even though they cannot break down the door.
We are also accepting staff applications for Global Moderators, Graphics Designers and Skin Designer.
What's going on... ?
There was peace once, though by now it is but a distant memory in the minds of those old enough to remember. There was order and cohesion, and nothing to fear. The Keepers of Hesperides stayed within their walled Haven, and none disrupted their peace. There was always a rumor that an object of unspeakable power lay hidden within those great walls, but in time the rumor grew dull with age. But now a young stallion, maddened with greed, is gathering all the information he can about this mysterious object of celestial power. Flanked by the powerful drafts of the northern lands, he is murdering and taking prisoners left and right. There is only a handful of southern herds that stand against him, led by the mysterious Theseus. If they are vanquished, the Keepers will be on their own. Chaos and uncertainty abound. How much longer can the forces of reason hold off this madman?
The board is set, the pieces are in play. Whose side will you join?
Monarch-wings (finished) « Result #11 on Oct 22, 2008, 5:49am »
basics}}
Name;; Monarch-wings Race;; horse Breed a mix of arabian and quarter horse Age;; 5 Gender;; mare (and possibly a little too proud of it) Hemisphere;; traveling towards the East
appearance}}
Eyes;; a soft dark brown the color of a young oak Hair;; seal brown (extremely dark brown to the point of black but in the sunlight the coat still shines a tan color) Mane: black Tail: black Height;; 15.hh Markings: [b] two white front horses and a white snip at her nose
lifestyle}}
[b]Personality;; Monarch-wings is forever a lady, on the outside at least. She knows how to show and gain respect, how to be liked or be hated. And she uses this to her gain. It is not, however, her nature to be cold or distrustful. She may guard herself when she first meets someone on the path, when once she gets to know the others, she opens up like a rose to kiss the dawn.
On the other hand, when need arises she is quick as a cat in battle, even if she knows only a few stunning moves. From both parents, she received stamina and speed, from her Arabian mother:grace, and from her quarter horse father: sense.
History;; Monarch-wings was born to a large herd. Her father, the emperor, did his best to use diplomacy instead of warfare to drive his point home to other herds as big as his own. Monarch-wing's mother taught her daughter manners and cunning at a young age.
When she was two, Monarch-wings found herself being drawn towards a common colt. He was a handsome thing, with silver mane and tail and a lovely canter. IT was he who taught her fighting moves and tested her speed and endurance to the limit in order to make her better. Though the princess secretly loved him, the colt, saw it only as his duty to train her.
Then, upon a horrible misty morning, that blocked oncoming scents, the herd was attacked. A neighboring herd of over a hundred guard stallions flancked them and proceeded to wipe the horses out. The herd put up a great fight, with Monarch-wings fighting beside her own kind, but their numbers were too great. It was her mother, more than half dead, that ordered Monarch-wings to fly. She had to get out and carry on their bloodline so that these invaders would never truly win. Monarch-wings was loathe to leave her kin. But her mother was right. Turning, on her heels, she galloped off. She didn't get far before a scouting party of the enemy closed in around her. She was already tired from battle but they were fresh. Just then a what sounded like the roar of a lion hit their ears. The silver colt rushed in amongst them. The two fought together and though Monarch-wings lived, the colt gave his life to save her.
It would take three years of lonesome traveling and surviving on her own four legs before the mare would get over it. She still wishes to be accepted into a herd where perhaps she could find the right stallion and pass on the legacy of the Godolphin Herd.
Alliance;; light, that is, she belives deeply in morales and honor
Galloping Free V.2 [lb] « Result #12 on Oct 10, 2008, 4:43pm »
The Story of Galloping Free
It was a combination of everything. Of hate, love, disease, and fighting. It snapped through the land like a fresh whip, spreading quickly. Almost all left, but several, several brave horses, young & old, light & dark, all different, stayed. They held everything together, whether they enjoyed each other or not. Slowly, others returned and new ones came. The land slowly grew, and every time it fell they helped it up. New threats came, creeping. The ones who left said it was dying from within, but that might not have been so completely the case. Through the goods and the bads it was bound tightly together from with in, bound by the ones who stay and cared. Times are changing now, but Galloping Free will always be the place that horses galloped free, gallop free, and will gallop free, untouched.
